Maybe I won't kill off this blog

My new NFL blogging seems to have encouraged me to blog about non-NFL items as well.

Since The Tony Kornheiser Show has stopped broadcasting (or, more correctly, continued without Tony) until after the NFL season, I've been searching for new podcast content to replace it. I must admit to trying out Bill O'Reilly's show for a few months, but it only took those few months to understand why everybody (on the left) calls this guy a nut job, and why nobody with half a brain should take anything he says seriously. Just look at his recent feud with DailyKos. It's ridiculous. Add to this that the Dan Patrick show, specifically the hour with Keith Olbermann, has effectively stopped, and I'm hurtin' for podcast hours. So, what have I replaced such material with?

KJRam podcasts. Only relevant for sports fans in Seattle. I like sports talk, but not so much the caller-driven sports talk. These podcasts are all athlete interviews and other guests.

The Conway and Whitman Show. Great anytime I need a laugh. Serves as a counterbalance for when I get worked up listening to political radio.

The Adam Carolla Show. The show is much better now with Danny Bonaduce.

Sunday morning shows Meet the Press and Face the Nation. Big name guests, semi-softball questions.

Bill Moyer's Journal. Incredibly intelligent discussion of various issues of the week. (Weekly)

Bill Simmons' B.S. Report. Apparently Bill Simmons has become big enough to get major guests every week. I love that Simmons is a fan that has opportunities as a journalist and not the other way around. (Weekly)

Air America shows The Rachel Maddow Show and The Young Turks. You have to pay for these shows, but I think it's worth it. Both of these are very liberal shows (though not quite far left), and they're an absolute breath of fresh air after dabbling with O'Reilly, Hannity, and Limbaugh. My Seattle roots are slowly coming back.

Software Engineering shows .NET Rocks and Hanselminutes. Programmers need not apply.

Slate Daily Podcast. Six days a week you get an article read to you, and one day a week you get the roughly 30-minute political gabfest - three writers discussing politics of the week - which I love.

Real Time with Bill Maher. Complete audio for the HBO show. This show seems to take half the year off almost, but when it's on it's great.

And when the show returns, I'll start listening to The Tony Kornheiser Show again.
